Reading Workshop
4 nights - 30 minutes
We are continuing to work on synthesizing information and thinking beyond the text in our informational articles. When synthesizing information, we integrate our thinking with the content from the text. Maybe we relate to the text with our own experiences or perhaps, questions arise that take our thinking in a different direction. Synthesizing information means we must respond and reflect on what we are learning and thinking; we might do this by forming an opinion or new perspective with new insight given to us by the text.
Writing Workshop
Homework: Students should finish drafting and revision this week on their feature article. We will edit and publish the week we return from break.
In Class: This week we will be drafting our feature articles. Our drafting and revision lessons this week will include: placing information into a meaningful structure that will best teach the reader; formatting our writing to include headings, facts, definitions, and details to support our main idea; developing strong transitions between paragraphs. As students are taught each lesson, they will be required to go back into their drafts & revise accordingly.
Math Workshop
