Reading Workshop
4 nights - 30 minutes
We are wrapping up our class read aloud and running records this week. Students will be setting goals for their summer reading and learning about the 'Rising 5th Grade' required reading work.
Writing Workshop
Homework: Final drafts for "Hero's Matter" narratives are due on Thursday, May 19th.

Our focus remains on our Heroes Matter Unit. Students are heavily involved in creating meaningful narratives. The final narratives are due on Thursday, May 19th. Next week, we will have a culminating share and discuss the importance of service learning, as well as decide who to donate our heartfelt creations to. Students will receive a doll they will design in class and then give

Last week, we took our end-of-year assessments. Students will have a chance to look at these in class this week to set goals for their summer work.

Social Studies
We are wrapping up the final lessons in our 'Southern Colonies' study. This week we will take some time to study the maps of the northern, middle, and southern colonies and how they began the formation of our states today. We will take our southern colonies unit assessment on Tuesday, May 24th.
Market: We are engaged in on-going discussions about market. In class and at home, students should be meeting with their co-owners to work on making their good and/or services, creating advertisements for their shop, and planning how they will use the Market Money they are earning.
Word Study
Last week, we wrapped up sort #14 and introduced sort #15. In this sort, students will add seven more prefix meanings to their word study bank. Students will notice:

- 4th Grade Fun Day will be held on Friday, May 20th. This is will be a NUD for students; school will be dismissed at noon.
- Type to Learn Lesson Goal: Students must pass lesson 24 to be meeting grade level expectations for the third trimester in Type To Learn. The due date for this trimesters TTL goals Thursday, May 19th.
- 4th Grade Market will take place next week! Please mark your calendars to come and shop in our market on Tuesday, May 24th from 8:30-9:00am or Wednesday, May 25th from 1:00-1:30pm. Siblings who attend Lovett are not to be taken out of class to attend the market.
