Writing Workshop
Homework: Due to ERBs, we will not have a weekly writing assignment. Enjoy your time resting your brain and getting so fresh air!
In Class:
Heroes Matter has begun! This week's emphasis will be on Real-Life Superheroes, Service Learning, & turning Non-Fiction into Fiction. We are thrilled to be engaged with such meaningful and transformative work!
Math Workshop
3 nights - 30 minutes
This week, we will continue reviewing various math topics and solidfying our math testing strategies. Students will receive their End of Year Math review packet and should be encouraged to work on it in little chunks of time nightly. We will also have time in class to review and work in partnerships. The packet is due next Monday, May 9th. The end of year assessment will take place next week. There should be zero stress surrounding the end of year exam! Students have been well prepared throughout the year & are ready to tackle it! This testing will not interfere with the ERBs.
Social Studies
Our study of the 'Southern Colonies' continues this week. We will continue to discuss the Carolina's through this week whenever.
Word Study
We will continue with sort 14 this week. We are reviewing identifying syllables and applying prefixes and suffixes to our sort words. We are sharpening our skills in learning to "dissect" words rather than just decoding words.

FYI
- ERB WEEK! Students will be taking the ERB this week. Assessing will take place in the mornings. We appreciate everyone's effort to reschedule any appointments to accommodate our testing schedule.
- Laptops will not be allowed home Monday, April 27th-May 11th because of the WrAP and ERBs.
- There will be no tutorial this week.
- Thank you to our parent volunteers who drove and chaperoned our field trip to Chick-fil-A Headquarters! What better way to begin our study of entrepreneurship than learn about the history, culture, and values of Founder Truett Cathy!
- End of Year Conferences will be held on Monday, May 16th. These conferences are optional. If you would like to request a conference please send Mrs. Shirley and I a list of topics you wish to cover, so we can prepare and make the best use of the time together. Please remember conferences are NOT to be used to discuss class placement for 5th grade or end-of-year grades. Be on the lookout for an email from me regarding summer work ideas.
